Description

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. While legislation has an important role to play in affecting social change, the grassroots efforts of individuals working together may be the key to continued progress on important social issues. Michelle Ciccarelli Lerach is a lawyer, entrepreneur and activist. Formerly a Partner with the world's largest law firm specializing in protecting investor, consumer and human rights, she left in 2008 to commit herself fully to social activism and philanthropic work. She is a visiting lecturer at the Buchmann Faculty of Law, Tel Aviv University. She is serving as a consultant to the Liberian Ministry of Gender & Development with respect to that country's proposed constitutional revisions. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
