Description

September 22, 2014, 12:20pm, and 6:55pm. A monday shutdown of Wall Street following the People's Climate March. A few thousands activists--including some in "Stop Funding Fossil", and "350.org" t-shirts--stage a sit-in of the Financial District under a large 300 foot banner reading Capitalism = Climate Chaos, Flood Wall Street". Traffic over Broadway, State, and Whitehall was effectively halted for nine hours as police waited until the end of rush hour to arrest demonstrators under the cover of darkness. After 6:30pm, police encircled and arrested remaining protesters at the corner of Wall Street and Broadway including one person dressed as a polar bear. The video includes music by elements of the Rude Mechanica Orchestra and friends, and a clip of an inflatable carbon bubble--by Tools for Action--bouncing above the crowd. The bubble was grabbed by nypd and deflated using the horns of the Charging Bull sculpture.
