Description

Kasey the “Cattle-pillar” is looking for a dedicated and patient forever home to help her continue to grow into her butterfly-self. Kasey is a young adult, spayed female, ACD mix. She is between 2-4 years old but with plenty of ‘young’ energy to share and the perfect medium-sized (47 pounds if a lady shared her weight)... Kasey is a very special girl who is working to forget the life she had before joining her Foster home; in quick review we know that she was most definitely a heartworm positive, single mom who lacked any positive experiences with people until being saved by ACDRA in June. What Kasey knows now is that life is not as scary as it used to be, and she has been promised that it will continue to get better! Kasey thrives in the company of other dogs, so much so, that it is necessary that her forever home has another dog-loving dog at home that can be Kasey’s best friend and moral support. Kasey lives with other herding dogs of all ages in her foster home and thoroughly enjoys trying to get the others to play with her. Kasey also lives with a couple of dog-savvy cats and has been respectful of them, however she may enjoy chasing flighty cats when she gets excited. Kasey is food motivated and loves to play with toys. Her favorite past time is de-stuffing the stuffed animal toys and working on food puzzles. Although she is regularly uncertain and cautious of people’s expectations, she wants very much to be able to please you and tries very hard! She is extremely agile and speedy, and may eventually enjoy exploring K9 Agility. Kasey will need a quiet home – one without children or frequent company and that is away from noisy and busy streets. Kasey enjoys the country life and going on hikes on-leash with her foster family out behind their home. She is not a candidate for attending doggy day care or dog parks at this time. She will require a securely fenced in yard and a secure enclosure in the home when unattended (a place of her own that she can feel comfortable and safe in). Kasey makes improvement every day on learning domestic social skills and has developed a fondness for neck scratches. Kasey has finished her heartworm treatment, she is spayed, UTD on her vaccinations and is current on heartworm, flea and tick preventatives. Interested adopters must have an understanding and/or willingness to learn about training fearful dogs and be willing to travel to her foster home to meet her, a local adoption is preferable. Kasey is being fostered in Deerfield, NH
