Description
The Moose Lodge in Redondo Beach, California, is draped in musical history as it has played host to some of the most legendary punk shows in history. I was honored to be invited to yet another one-of-a-kind night in the place where the infamous band Black Flag cut their teeth. Chuck Dukowski phoned me and said, “I thought you might want to come and check out a show. We’re playing at the Moose Lodge in Redondo Beach. It should be fun and I think you’ll enjoy it.” Let me just clarify that Chuck profoundly understands that less is more and being understated is an art form that he is a master of. In other words, while in my head I was doing backflips, he was casually throwing bullseyes on a dartboard blindfolded. I was eager to oblige and shared my sentiment that we had never hung out and not had fun, so this should be pretty epic. Little did I know what I was actually going to be witnessing… “I’ve Had It” (Keith sings), “My War” (Keith sings), ”Gimme Gimme” (Keith sings), ”Nervous Breakdown” (Keith sings), ”Six Pack” (Dez sings) “Rise Above” and Louie Louie.” (Dez sings). FLAG features Keith Morris, Dez Cadena, Chuck Dukowski, Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton. VIPs in attendance included the likes of James Muir, proprietor of Dogtown Skateboards, world-renowned artist Shepard Fairey, and Josh Landau of sludge rock triple threat, The Shrine. This show proved that greatness can be achieved as often as you choose it. http://juicemagazine.com/home/2013/05/flag/
