Description

The tune was written less than 10 years ago, but this instrument is about 100 years old. This is the only contemporary tune on a new G roll to be released at http://www.johnnysmusicrolls.com/ this summer. The roll contains 10 tunes arranged by Art Reblitz, all related to the Barbary Coast / San Francisco Bay Area, in honor of the July 2013 AMICA convention to be held there, at which the roll will be available. The roll will be Jazzola label G-0026. The roll played here is the only copy in existence currently. This was composer Tom Brier's first time hearing this arrangement, hence his excited reaction at the end (but, as a high-quality audio recording of the entire roll was taking place, the reaction had to be silent!). This Seeburg G Orchestrion is part of the collection of John Mottoros. You can hear more of this instrument and other vintage automatic instruments from his collection on this CD: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/mottoros
