Phantasmagory 2012 The Grand Victorian Halloween Ball at Riverside Church Dances of Vice 'The creation of Shien Lee, Dances of Vice is a New York nightlife sensation, which incorporates a myriad of anachronistic and New Romantic influences in Dadaistic celebration of the liberating effects of beauty, fantasy and surrealism.' The event took place at The Riverside Church in the City of New York. It is 'an interdenominational American Baptist and United Church of Christ church in New York City, famous for its elaborate Neo-Gothic architecture and its history of social justice. It was described by The New York Times in 2008 as "a stronghold of activism and political debate throughout its 75-year history ... influential on the nation's religious and political landscapes. It has been a focal point of global and national activism since its inception.' History Lesson: Martin Luther King Jr. voiced his opposition to the Vietnam War at Riverside on August 9, 1964. Bill Clinton spoke at Riverside Church on August 29, 2004. Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan spoke there after the September 11, 2001 attacks. Cesar Chavez, Jesse Jackson, Desmond Tutu, Fidel Castro, Arundhati Royand Nelson Mandela have all spoken at Riverside Church. Gita says 'This was an amazing show.
