Description

Philip Moriarty is a Professor of Physics at the University of Nottingham, where his research focuses on nanoscale science. He is a member of the Science Board of the Institute of Physics and was Chair of the Institute of Physics Nanoscale Physics and Technology Group committee from 2009 until December last year. He has participated in a number of research council-funded public engagement projects, including Giants of the Infinitesimal, and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Council for the Defence of British Universities. He is also a regular contributor to Nottingham's Sixty Symbols video series. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
