Description

Veterinarians are at the forefront caring for stray, rescued animals. Here Dr. Brittney Barton of Dallas cares for shelter cat Skinny, an obese, 42-pound feline who attracted global news attention when rescued as a stray in 2012. Dr. Barton explains her weight loss program for Skinny and observes that more than half of all pets are obese, a condition that causes problems with joints, organs, and quality of life, while if untreated can become terminal. Dr. Barton also offers advice on monitoring your pet's weight. In Skinny's case, his future is tied to his weight loss as he can't be offered for adoption until his weight is under control.
