Description

Charles-François Gounod (1818-1893) composed this as a fanciful parody on a familiar formula for funeral marches. It gained international stardom as the theme music for the American television series "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", which ran from October 2, 1955 to May 10, 1965. (Seasons 1–7 were half-hour productions, while Seasons 8–10 comprised one hour). Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock, KBE (1899-1980) was an English film director and producer. Often nicknamed "The Master of Suspense", he pioneered many techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres. (Wikipedia, and album notes) Straight from the 1971 vinyl.
