Description

This song (written by Pat MacDonald, Paul Thorn, & Louise Goffin) was originally recorded by Paul Thorn on his record "Ain't Love Strange" (Paul's version has Louise on drum machine, & Louise and Maia Sharp on backing vocals) The ukulele version here has only been performed live in Louise's shows, so far no recording released on it. Fabio and Liberace (Pat MacDonald, Paul Thorn, Louise Goffin) Walking down the highway heading to New Orleans a thumb in the air and a pair of tight jeans heʼd fallen on lean times so all he had to pack were some 8 x 10 glossies and the shirt on his back oooh sha sha his pink el dorado was looking real good with a chrome candelabra welded to the hood a walmart keyboard and a make-up bag he was headed for the big time and goinʼ in drag oooh sha sha it was hell on the highway, his feet were getting sore the batteries in his walkman didnʼt work no more his raised his thumb then flipped his finger to a passing dodge then saw the pink el dorado, it looked like a mirage oooh sha sha whistling to Sinatra, driving real fast he saw the handsome hitch hiker and took his foot off the gas pulled it on over and offered him a ride set a cocktail on the dashboard of the passenger side oooh sha sha "where you headed to friend?" "well Iʼm goin to Hollywood but Iʼm stopping in New Orleans" the driver said "good, you know you look a lot like Fabio you could go far" the hiker said “thank you man, I love this car!” oooh sha sha At a bourbon street drag show in New Orleans Liberace plays piano to a drum machine A new interpretation of an old familiar song and Fabio is groovin in a leopard skin thong
