Description

Exclusive interview with skronky indie seven-piece, Montague Black (https://www.facebook.com/montagueblackband), conducted by BSTV's Kate Ross at the band's north London rehearsal space. The video files and images to accompany this interview were assembled through a Dadaist process that was predominantly inspired by William Burroughs and Brion Gysin's Cut Up method - only using modern technology. We googled the name 'Montague Black' and selected interesting images based on the results of the search. A similar process of image procurement was used by randomly stabbing phrases in a copy of 'The Ticket That Exploded' and then once again googling the phrases upon which we hazarded. Many of the results are archival photographs. These were assembled together in a scrapbook cut-and-paste method with which Burroughs and Gysin themselves would have been familiar in their respective work with text, calligraphy and images, as well as in the latter's Dreamachine project. The film footage was compiled through the selection of Electric Owls' material based on unplanned numerical generation and unadulterated child's piss supplied by Joe Moon and Kate Ross. We missed out Monday but came up smiling on Tuesday morning with the essence of petunia on our boots.
