Honoree Paul McCartney, no stranger to artistic recognition, said getting the top arts prize in the U.S. was no small matter. ''It's a huge honor, it's one of America's highest honors and you know as a performing artist it's just great to get it in such illustrious company I'm in tonight,'' said the former Beatle. Dance legend James T. Jones said it was almost as exciting seeing other stars around him as it was being the center of attention. And talk show Queen Oprah Winfrey said being honored was like having all the best days in the world - rolled into one.
