Dr. Aboody is an Associate Professor both in the Department of Neurosciences and Division of Neurosurgery at City of Hope. Her research focuses on using stem cells to treat cancer, brain tumors in particular. She founded biotech company TheraBiologics, inc., which develops "cancer targeted drug delivery," to use entrepreneurship as a means by which to overcome the barriers to scientific progress. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
