Description

FAME- Foundation for the Advancement of Music & Education’s Summer Music Technology Program uses state of the art technology to broaden students’ horizon, build self-esteem and bolster academic skills. Students entering grades 8 through 12 compose music using various digital audio workstations; they learn and understand the basics of audio recording and manipulating digital audio. Additionally, students receive extensive training in industry standard software: i.e. ProTools, Digital Performer, Reason, Sibelius and Garage Band, that will provide them with skills to obtain advance placement in music schools, and obtain internships/employment while in school. Master classes are also provided to students on their respective instrument (viola, saxophone, piano, voice, etc.). The training is equivalent to offerings at the university/college levels. To further enhance students’ success, ability to focus, increase self-esteem and exposure, we include academic sessions on the following topics: Study Skills & Test-taking Essentials, Building Your College Portfolio, Effective Written Communication, Teambuilding and Verbal Skills. The program is conducted in partnership with the University of Maryland College Park, School of Music and supported by the Prince George’s County MD Government, Community Foundation of Prince George’s, and United Way of the National Capital Area. www.fameorg.org.
