Dan Savage, Chris Hayes Uneasy About People Taking ‘Delight’ in Duggar Hypocrisy

Description

Dan Savage appeared with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes tonight to talk about Josh Duggar admitting he molested several young women when he was a teenager. And Savage, of course, was pretty outraged at how the Duggars could call LGBT Americans a legitimate threat to America’s youth––even throwing the child molestation charge at them––when they “covered up for and protected” this pretty horrible thing. The horribleness of the act, however, did give way for Savage to express his discomfort with the “delight” some liberals he said have taken in calling out the Duggars’ hypocrisy. While he, too, thinks they’re gross hypocrites, Savage said that child molestation is involved here and “there’s nothing here to take delight in.” Hayes said he saw some of that too and found it “pretty gross.” He and Savage also pointed out that while families like the Duggars would like to pretend it’s “LGBT boogeymen” coming for people’s children, but in most cases people are likeliest to be sexually abused by someone close to them.
