Velocity New Zealand would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy new year. To mark the return of Formula 1 racing cars to Hampton Downs for the 2015 New Zealand Festival of Motor Racing celebrating Howden Ganley in just a few weeks time, we've put together some footage from earlier this year of arguably two of the best sounding Formula 1 cars in history - The Ferrari 412T and 156/85. The Ferrari 412T ran a V12 configuration and was world renowned for it's high pitched scream and is widely regarded as one of the greatest sounding F1 cars of that era. Piloted by Gerhard Berger, Jean Alesi and briefly by Nicola Larini, the car netted just one win in the '94 F1 season, a string of retirements plagued the car which saw Berger fail to finish seven of the sixteen Grand Prix that season. The 412T will return to Hampton Downs in 2015 for it's second appearance at the Festival. The Ferrari 156/85 piloted by Michele Alboreto finished second in the '85 F1 season behind McLaren's Alain Prost. The car took just one pole position and two wins in the '85 season, both taken at the Canadian and Austrian Grand Prix. The two 156/85's, which ran in the legendary V6 Turbo era of the 80's, will not return to Hampton Down in 2015. Next years Festival will feature eight legendary Formula 1 cars ranging from the Ferrari 412T featured in the video to a Maki F1 in which Ganley drove in 1974 at the British and German Grand Prix's.
