Description

After the Svajerløb races everyone sat down for a massive feast of BBQ in the meat packing district of Copenhagen. We were all squinting to understand each other through various accents, and we were completely fried by the sun. A gentleman asked if I would keep him company while he smoked a cigarette, and we sat there in that beautiful square and told each other our stories. This man who was a stranger only an hour earlier told me the story of how he had fallen in love with the Bullitt in his darkest times, that it was a turning point in his life when he bought one not knowing from where the next month's rent check would come. I told my very parallel story and maybe it was just sunscreen in our eyes but I felt both of us were moved by having found such simple common ground: The Bullitt is a machine that carries more than just cargo. To us, it carries a feeling. I've called that feeling Cargo Heart. I moved all of my belongings into storage and I have put my life on hold to travel and film the heart stories of different people who call the Bullitt home. This will be my first feature documentary and I am so grateful to have a rich, deep well from which to draw compelling stories. The film will show these stories in an unbiased but beautiful collage of contrasting lifestyles, in Copenhagen, the west coast of Denmark, Aarhus, New York City, Chicago, and Mexico City. So far I have funded this project completely independently. Due to several unforeseen expenses, I am opening up and asking for financial support from the community of people who I know will love this project and want to be a part of making it possible. By donating you will receive email updates, early previews, and significant donations will be invited to the premiere in January 2017. I have been met with such incredible hospitality in Denmark, I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for your help in making this project possible. Please visit: http://cargoheart.com/about
