Matt Damon Returning To Bourne Franchise Subscribe Now! ► http://bit.ly/SubClevverMovies You can’t keep a good spy down, especially when his name is Jason Bourne. Rumors of Matt Damon reprising his role as Jason Bourne have resurfaced every few months pretty much since he ended the franchise with 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatium. Well, it may be time to finally put those rumors to rest, because according to Deadline, they are no longer rumors, but his return is now inevitable. Universal Pictures is currently in the process of making a deal with Matt Damon to reprise his role as Bourne for a fourth film. Damon had previously said that he wouldn’t return to the franchise unless Paul Greengrass was back on to direct and that’s exactly what’s happening. Both Greengrass and Damon had previously stated they didn’t think there was anywhere for the story to go now that Bourne had regained his memory, but it appears they’ve figured out an interesting way to make it work as the pair are set to reunite. So this is great news for Bourne fans, but what does this mean for Jeremy Renner, who took over the franchise in 2012’s, The Bourne Legacy and is set to reprise his role as “Aaron Cross” in a sequel that’s currently set for July 15th, 2016? Back in June, Latino Review reported that the Renner sequel was moved from 2015 to 2016 in order for the film to feature Damon and Renner teaming up, but according to Deadline, this will not be the case. Instead, a Matt Damon lead Bourne film will take over the 2016 release with Jeremy Renner to appear in a Legacy sequel sometime in the future. Fast & Furious director Justin Lin is currently attached to direct the Renner Bourne film. The studio’s plan is to broaden the franchise to include both stars, but whether or not we will see them join forces remains to be seen. I’m sure I don’t have to ask if you’re excited to see Matt Damon return as “Jason Bourne”, but do you think there’s enough room in the franchise for two stars?
