Spider Man Rumored To Join Marvel Universe...But Should He? Subscribe Now! ► http://bit.ly/SubClevverMovies A new rumor suggests that Marvel and Sony are in talks to have Spider-Man join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the big question is should he? It’s pretty clear that fans are eager to see Spider-Man take his place among the likes of Iron Man, Captain America and Hulk. After all, he’s not only a fellow Marvel character, but he’s also been a member of The Avengers in the comics. Of course, when it comes to the big screen, that dream has been off-limits thanks to the fact that Sony owns the rights to the character, but things may be changing if a recent rumor is to be believed. According to website HitFix, there are discussions underway between Sony and Marvel that would connect Spider-Man with the MCU. Though they are unable to confirm the rumor, the implications of this happening would be huge. Despite earning over $700 million worldwide, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 continued to see the franchise decline. So much so, the studio decided to push the release of a third film from 2016 to sometime in 2018 and seemingly scrapped plans for a 4th outing. Instead, they are focusing on bringing The Sinister Six to the big screen in November 2016 and have plans to expand the universe further with films focusing on Venom and an as yet unnamed female character, most likely Black Cat. Now, connecting Spider-Man to the Marvel Universe would definitely help give the franchise a direction and would most likely turn around declining ticket sales, but we don’t see it benefiting Marvel too much. At least not when it comes to the cinematic side. Sure, it could help sell more Spider-Man comics and merchandise and those are the areas Marvel would likely be looking to garner some gains, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been intricately set up over 10 films so far and have been doing pretty well without old web-head attached. As much as we would love to see Spider-Man join the Avengers, it doesn’t make any sense, at least not Sony’s version. Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man doesn’t live in a world where billionaires fight evil in iron suits and the only giant green monster roaming the streets is a Lizard. If they suddenly were to connect the two universes, how do you explain where Spider-Man was while aliens were attacking his home city? The only way we can see Spider-Man introduced into the MCU is if he has no connection to Sony’s version and if that’s the case, then you might as well cut Sony completely out of the equation. Of course, this is still just a rumor and it’s not the first time we’ve heard the two companies discussing a sort of connected universe. At one point, Oscorp Tower was set to appear in The Avengers New York skyline along with Stark Tower, but that plan ultimately didn’t come to fruition thanks to a lack of time to get the visual effects done. In the end though, that was probably a good thing considering it would have many fans scratching their heads wondering why Spider-Man didn’t swing into action and fight the Chitauri alongside The Avengers. We’ll have to wait and see if there’s any credence to this rumor, but in the meantime click here to find out about 7 superhero movies that almost happened.
