CEO of Durban ICC wraps up COP 17 Climate Change conference. Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC, United Nations Convention on Climate Change. The COP serves as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol. The African Group will be the next proud host of the Conference with COP17 in Durban, South Africa, from 28 Nov-9 Dec 2011. The President of COP17/CMP7 is Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, the South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation. The United Nations Climate Change Conference, Durban 2011, will bring together representatives of the world's governments, international organizations and civil society. The discussions will seek to advance, in a balanced fashion, the implementation of the Convention and the Kyoto Protocol. The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement linked to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The major feature of the Kyoto Protocol is that it sets binding targets for 37 industrialized countries and the European community for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
