Description

http://manwiththe5D.blogspot.com This is an example of what a good, flat image can do for you after color correction in After Effects. Original footage was shot with a Canon 5D Mark II using Philip Bloom's reduced contrast, brightness, and saturation settings as shown here: /watch?v=TNNqUm_nSXk Sky brightness was ridiculous during this test, and I could not stop down the camera nor use an ND filter without the hedges and Nissan Xterra turning black; hence, I ran the aperture almost to the zebra - using Magic Lantern's histogram to keep me from blowing it out more than anything else. A bit of saturation and highlight work in After Effects later brought out this beautiful blue sky. No filters necessary, just the AE post work. Now if only The Foundry's Rolling Shutter plugin would be so cooperative on the trunk of that Honda as it passes by. SPECS: *Canon 5D Mark II, w/Magic Lantern, color settings as per Philip Bloom's video linked above. *Lens: Canon 28-135mm USM f4.5 w/IS @ 50mm no filters *24P @ 1/47 shutter speed, cannot remember whether I was at 160 ISO or 640 ISO, stopped down. *Color corrected in Adobe After Effects, settings for this particular shot TBA - for those curious. -Kurt P.S.: Rack-focused this thing manually from the lens. Follow focus isn't in yet.
