Bidding opened at 1-point-6 million U.S. dollars... and more than doubled in less than three minutes before the final bid was struck. The instrument was among some 200 items up for auction from Hollywood′s golden age... including the movie′s famous transit letters, which fetched over 100-thousand dollars. "Casablanca" has stood the test of time after being released in 1942 and winning three Academy Awards. It′s been ranked the second greatest movie of all time by the American Film Institute, alongside "Citizen Kane" and "The Godfather."
