Description

(480p viewing recommended) In celebration of his 100th birthday, this is the first posting of USA Network's 1988 broadcast of Rub Out the Word, a Lawrence, Kansas artistic grassroots music video tribute to Burroughs, on NightFlight. This was NightFlight's takeoff to politics episode, one week before the presidential election which elected Bush Sr. My (Roger Holden) guidance of the music video production was to allow a Reading Rainbow Feature Book audiovisual cut-up parody to emerge. This approach is because I designed the original digital system used to photo motion control most of the feature books for the first 5 seasons. www.rainbowcybercamguy.com The video happened only because of the collaboration of lots of Lawrence artistic talent and patrons. I will continue to add to the full credits until completion over time but I'll start out with the following for now. I was Executive Producer. Mimi Thebo: Co-Producer Andy Wadsworth: Co-Producer Mark Syverson: Director live action Roger Holden: Director of motion control photography, visual effects and Amiga CGI graphics Editor and live action camera: Tim DePaepe Artists - Sue Ashline, Ben Riggin (clay animation), Patrick Lafferty, Marty Olson, S.Clay Wilson(NightFlight significantly cut into his art which was at the start of the music video), Roger Shimomura, Doug Bennett and more... Original Burroughs photos: Richard Gwin(1st shotgun photos), Andy Wadsworth(Burroughs facial poses and more) Appearances - Matt Moore, future Lawrence mayor Dennis "Boog" Highberger, Beth Scalet, Bob Nunley,Rick Sheridan, Kelly Howell, Clark Jamison, John Meyers, David Yonally, Andy Wadsworth, Rick Schneider and more... Music composed, performed and recorded by Rick Schneider(Schloss Tegal ) with Burroughs vocals selected and ordered by Roger Holden(also played guitar track) Thanks to William Burroughs Communications, Gary Mark Smith for a good part of the pictured people from his nearby party, and the late Charlie and Tensie Oldfather.
