This is the story of how a community came together to make their voice heard. Backed by Foothills Conservancy and bolstered by the state, a conservation victory happened on the shores of Lake James in 2005. Landowner Crescent Resources offered the bargain sale of nearly 3,000 acres which contributed to the growth of Lake James State Park, making it the largest lake-based state park in North Carolina.
