BRESCIA, ITALY — Italian police on Wednesday arrested two supporters of the Islamic State believed to be plotting a terrorist attack in the city of Brescia. Reuters reports that the two suspects arrested were a 35-year-old Tunisian national and a 27-year-old Pakistani who were legally working and residing in Brescia province. Among their targets there was Ghedi Air Base, the only Italian base to host U.S. nuclear weapons, and Brescia Railway Station. Police say the Tunisian man posted threats on Twitter with pictures of famous landmarks including Milan's Duomo cathedral and Rome's Colosseum. "We are in your streets, we are everywhere. We identify our targets while we wait for zero hour," said one message, written in Italian, French and Arabic. Other possible targets included law enforcement forces. The two men downloaded a manual for mujahedeen with information on primitive weapons and bomb-making and how to disguise their identities online. In a separate incident, a native of the Spanish North African enclave of Melilla was detained in Madrid and accused of distributing propaganda and recruiting girls and young women to join the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. Spain arrested 49 people suspected of Islamist militant activities between January and July 22. The two suspects arrested in Italy planned to undergo training in Syria before carrying out their planned attacks. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets.
