Description

A systems approach to regenerative water solutions, incorporating the genius of people, nature and place. We first started TEDxCapeTown in 2011 to provide a platform for critical engagement, new conversations and to bring an element og 'sexiness' and appeal to what was a sterile topic of water. We hoped that this would engage a community to look at solutions which could address the challenges around our precious water resources. What transpired was beyond our wildest expectations. With minimal resources and 3 months of planning we managed to host TEDxCapeTown 2011: Be Water My Friend. Tickes sold out and #TEDxCt trended globally on Twitter - we realised then that TEDx was something special and if we guided her well, she could play a role in assisting positive change in the world we live in. We believe that this next step in further engagement and deeper conversatoin around the ideas shared by our speakers is both the natural and also necessary step to take in order to see a greater impact. And what better way to kick this off than around Water Week and our founding roots of TEDxCapeTown, we look forward to having you with us on this new journey! In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxCapeTown, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxCapeTown event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
