Description

"National Security" The Blue Chair Chronicles, Season 01 episode 08 In this episode, learn how national security is the heart and soul of Cubic's Mission Support Services Business. --- Script: 0:03 The heart and soul of mission support services is national security. 0:15 Vice President and General Manager of Information Operations Division (Mission Support Services, Cubic Corporation) located here in San Diego. 0:21 MSS stands for Mission Support Services. So if we parcel that out, what we are talking about is: - Mission: what is the clients mission and how they are going to accomplish that? -Support: we are in a support mode, so we are embedded with them helping them achieve their mission critical things they have to do. -Services: The product we are delivering has to do with meeting their mission So, Mission Support Services, MSS. 0:42 Well the mind power that we put to work is actually pretty incredible. As we talk about thousands of people supporting those particular clients, the product that we're delivering mostly is man hours and reports and products related to how they are going to achieve that mission. 0:55 Information Operations Division: we primarily support intelligence related activities and that has to do with collecting raw data, applying analytical tools and people's brain power to produce information. Information then becomes actionable to our clients, who are located on six continents. 1:12 The truth is that we've got a lot of very high end people. I looked this morning and we have 17 PHD's that are currently on staff that are embedded every day on Cubic facilities supporting clients in some very high end pursuits: cyber security, chemical biology, biologic warfare, some of those kinds of things. 560 people have masters degrees. We're talking about analysts, we're talking about thinkers, we're talking about skilled professionals in their field, those that have a passion for what they are trying to accomplish and we are doing that in the name of national security for the nation today! 1:43 The type of programs that this kind of brain trust works on is very diverse. So what we want to do is make sure we identify the mission support that we are trying to achieve. So as the clients requirements change, our support to those particular clients will change -- our recruiting, staffing, all those kinds of things will change because we will follow what the client needs. 2:02 Anticipating what the client needs is where the PHD's I referred to earlier, our master's degrees- those people that are working on the front edge of what we call "transformation"- transforming the Department of Defense (DOD), transforming the military to meet today's evolving threat, that's how we're positioning ourselves for the future.
