Description

Professionals from across the UK came together for our "When am I going home?" conference in February 2013. In this film, three of the speakers from the charity sector gave their views on the event and the issues covered. The event explored the challenges faced by professionals in transitioning children and young people who are technology-dependent from hospital to home and the importance of overcoming the hurdles to make it happen. Children who are technology-dependent include those on long-term ventilation or with complex tracheostomies. Speakers at the vent included Karen Turner from the Department of Health; Christine Lenehan OBE from the Council for Disabled Children; Jacquie Kemp from the London Specialised Commissioning Group; Dr Colin Wallis from Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Dave Winch and Dr Gillian Halley from the Royal Brompton Hospital, who all shared their views on how we can work together to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people. Andy Cole, Chief Executive of Bliss; Colin Dyer, Chief Executive of WellChild; and Andrew Ross, Chief Executive of The Children's Trust concluded the day with their collective voice from the charitable sector.
