openFrameworks + etherdream + ILDA Laser TEST 1

Description

My etherdream DAC has finally arrived! Now I have low-level control of an ILDA controllable laser projector (i.e. any pro laser projector), for realtime interactive laser goodness with openFrameworks, on OSX (finally), with everything (including firmware of the etherdream) opensource. This is my very first 'Hello World' tests. (on a ridiculously rubbish laser, hence a lot of the flickering, even more accentuated by the crappy camera of my phone, looks better in real life). Here rendering everything to an FBO, then vectorizing and re-calculating optimal paths, adding/removing points, curves etc. If your source graphics are vector (as it could be in many generative systems), it's probably more efficient to keep it that way without rasterizing first, but I was curious as to how the galvos were responding, and this was a great way to understand the system and test the limits. Thanks to Golan Levin for recommending the etherdream, and to Daito Manabe for helping me kickstart into getting this all up and running within 5 minutes! http://ether-dream.com/ http://ether-dream.com/protocol.html http://ether-dream.com/manual.html https://github.com/j4cbo/j4cDAC https://github.com/j4cbo/j4cDAC/tree/master/driver/libetherdream
