Description

Students and staff returned to College after the weekend to find our foyers transformed with festive decorations. Given the theme of Christmas Past, Present and Future, three teams of volunteers took a building each and showed their creative talents by producing three very different looking schemes. The team decorating the Pembroke Centre was led by Health and Social Care lecturers. Their theme was Christmas Past and has a full size fireplace as its focal point, complete with Christmas stockings hung out for Santa. The Floristry department were in charge of the Sixth Form Centre decor with the theme of Christmas Present. The Christmas tree is decorated in red and gold and swags around the doors are hung with pine cones and cinnamon sticks. The current economic climate is reflected in their use of recycled paper for wrapping parcels for under the tree -- a reminder that Christmas Present for many will be about making the best of what they have. In the Balliol Centre, Visual Merchandising students, under the creative direction of their tutors and with the help of the department's technician, based their Christmas Future theme on the Bootle moto. Complete with full size reindeer and lots of sprouts, the look has been finished off with bunting made from the College's official Christmas card.
