Escape to Big Sur

Description

In February 2013, I stopped everything I was doing, hopped in a Prius, and drove from Atlanta to the west coast with no set destination. Upon arriving to LA, a close friend of mine told me about the small coastal town of Big Sur and the calming power of the scenic drive of US highway 1. I made my way up the coast from LA to Big Sur and was floored with the beauty of the central west coast. The windy scenic road, massive cliffs, teal blue waters, cranberry sunsets, majestic mountains, tranquil beaches, and massive forests were unlike any landscape I've ever seen. But even beyond all those natural wonders Big Sur had a special energy that I couldn't put my finger on. It was no wonder that it was an inspirational hub for authors and musicians alike such as Henry Miller, Jack Kerouac, Hunter S. Thompson, Robinson Jeffers, The Beach Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more recently the Fleet Foxes. This film is footage from my second journey to Big Sur. It's a brief attempt to capture the beauty that is Big Sur, CA. I strongly recommend making this trip at least ones in your life.
