Description

This joyous show has become somewhat overlooked, coming as it does at the tale-end of the period of great Hollywood musicals (not forgetting the huge Rodgers and Hammerstein films). From the moment the four stars open the film with the title song, you're hooked. Dailey, MacRae, North and Borgnine work together like they were born for this film and Sheree North shows that she was far more than the dumb blonde 20th Century tried to make her. One of many Hollywood bio-pics of song-writing teams, this depicts the pretty fictitious career of the team of Brown, DeSylva and Henderson who wrote so many of the great songs of the between-wars period. A tremendously enjoyable movie which could have been so much better had it had a decent budget, tougher story-line and better direction, at least this copy is in glorious stereo! Evidently Eileen Wilson did the singing chores for Miss North. The black bars at the beginning disappear after the titles. I do not own the rights to this movie...
