Description

Best Drug Rehabilitation and A Forever Recovery sponsored the event to benefit the Mack Alive Partnership for a Drug Free Detroit. In this video Per Wickstrom of Best Drug Rehabilitation talks with several former Detroit Lions and Tigers players about teenagers today. He asks if they think the kids today have a harder time than they did 25 years ago. Sportscaster Dan Miller says that he thinks the kids of today have a much harder time because they are bombarded with so much coming at them. Rob Rubick, former Detroit Lions player, points out that kids in high school today are going to experiment with alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs. He says that the problem comes after they experiment and he thinks it is peer pressure. Rob said that he has a 'peer resistance' team and they go into schools and talk with the students about peer pressure. He states that Jake Long, the number one NFL pick about seven years ago, is on his 'peer resistance' team. They also perform skits on peer pressure. Denny McLain, former Detroit Tigers player, says that he thinks the older we get, the more we think about giving back. He says that a light will go on one day and you will get involved and do what you need to do. He tells of a tragic time in his life when his oldest daughter was killed in a car accident. She was hit by a drunk truck driver. Denny goes on to say that when something like that happens, a light goes on and you know you have to step up and do something. He says that many times you don't get anything done until you hit that nerve. Per Wickstrom of Best Drug Rehabilitation says that the message has to be executed, not only heard or read. He says it's not that the parents don't know, but they don't know what to say or what to do. He says the parent have to apply the programs. There are many programs out there, but the parents have to apply them to their children, their youth, and their community or they are not going to work. Per Wickstrom is awarded the "Spirit of Detroit" award from the city. "It's presented with as an expression of gratitude and esteem of the citizens of the City of Detroit to Per Wickstrom in recognition of exceptional achievement, outstanding leadership, and dedication to improving the quality of life for all those here in the City of Detroit and signed a Spirit of Detroit Award signed by all nine of my colleagues for Per Wickstrom tonight. We celebrate you." Per Wickstrom and Best Drug Rehabilitation strive to help the youth by heightening awareness and prevention of alcohol and drugs. http://www.bestdrugrehabilitation.com/ Call now if you are seeking help, 1-888-820-5366
