Description

Researchers reported in a new study, an experimental treatment combining two antidepressants was found to help treatment-resistant depression by targeting receptors in the endogenous opioid system. Dr. Maurizio Fava, executive director of the Clinical Trials Network and Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital, said, "The robust treatment effect seen in this clinical study suggests that many patients with depression may have a dysregulation of the endogenous opioid system." The current study is published in the American Journal of Psychiatry. Using a two-stage randomized trial method to reduce the impact of the placebo effect on results, researchers recruited 142 patients at 31 sites. http://www.upi.com/Health_News/2016/02/12/Targeting-opioid-system-may-help-treatment-resistant-depression/9551455283593/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
