DAYTON, OHIO — A black motorist and an Ohio police officer have agreed to sit down and have "a conversation" about a traffic stop last month, which the officer justified by saying that the motorist made "direct eye contact" with him. A police officer pulled John Felton of Detroit, Michigan over in Dayton, Ohio for a traffic infraction. The officer, whose identity hasn't been released, said that he stopped Felton and gave him a warning because Felton didn't signal 100 feet before making a turn. The infraction has been verified by Dayton Police. In the video, Felton accuses the officer of trailing him for miles, though, and finding any reason to pull him over and "Sandra Bland" him, a reference to the Chicago woman who was stopped in Texas for a minor traffic violation and arrested in July. She ended up hanging herself in jail a few days later. Within the last minute of the recording, the police officer admits to being suspicious after Felton made "direct eye contact" with the officer while passing the officer in his car. In the video, he said he was unwilling to discuss it further with Felton, though, and said Felton could take it to court. The two have agreed to have a conversation facilitated by a mediator at the Dayton Mediation Center, but whether that will actually ease tensions remains to be seen. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets.
