Former Argentine judge who fled to Chile faces extradition amid accusations of complicity in "Dirty War" era crimes. Full Story: Chilean judicial authorities authorized on Tuesday (June 18) the extradition of a former Argentine judge who is accused of human rights violations during Argentina's 'Dirty War'. Former Argentine judge Otilio Ireneo Roque Romano fled to Chile in August of 2011 one day before being suspended following accusations he was involved in torture, disappearances and other crimes against human rights. Chilean Supreme Court Justice Sergio Munoz Gajarado found there were sufficient grounds to return Roque Romano to Argentina to face trial. A lawyer for Romano said his client would appeal the extradition order. [Claudio Feller, Lawyer for Romano] "We were certain that Judge (Sergio) Munoz was going to authorize the extradition and we are confident in the final resolution from the Supreme Court before which we will file an appeal. The appeals process expires on Monday." Some 30,000 people were killed during Argentina's 'dirty war' that happened between 1976-1983.
