Driving in Copenhagen while listening to Radio Kalundborg

Description

08:10 - An other car passing a red traffic light. Not an unusual incident in Copenhagen, as some people rely on others being polite enough to wait for them anyhow (and there are no cameras set up at the traffic lights). Don't do this yourself though, when driving in Copenhagen - this is nevertheless very dangerous! The video is from a drive through the eastern part of the Danish capital Copenhagen while listening to the Danish long wave station Kalundborg. The tour goes from Østerport station to Svanemøllen, then back to Østerport via Østerbrogade and into Store Kongensgade. I was listening to the Danish long wave station Kalundborg at this time. This station is still an important resource for ships on sea, and the program is especially made for this target group. You'll hear: Weather at sea, music (station signal), news (skipped most of it) and warnings for ships from the Danish Navy (Søværnets Operative Kommando). There are only a few short daily transmissions from this station: at 0545, 0800, 0830, 1145 and 1745 hrs on 243 kHz. Maybe this will shortly be pure nostalgia, as there are plans to end these transmissions in 2014, which would cut off a lot of small vessels on sea as well as Danes abroad from this important and freely accessible source of information, which they have relied on since 1927.
