LONDON IN UNDER A MINUTE!

Description

Here is a bunch of Hyperlapse clips shot around London, all shot handheld but stabilised in post production. Creating hyperlapse video clips is time consuming both in terms of filming and in post production. To create one second of video requires 30 individual still photos to be taken(NTSC); these photos are then stitched together using computer software to create one video clip. A 6 second clip requires 180 photos. One of the driving forces behind this project was to create funky images of London landmarks leading up to the referendum on the UK's continued membership of the EU. It was thought that there may be a need for some interesting moving images of places in this great capital city. All the images were taken, handheld. The freedom that handheld shooting gives, I feel, outweighs the drawback in post production of the increased work load. Tripods draw attention, which is something you don't really want if filming in certain parts of London; if there's on thing I've learn't over the years is that security guards love nothing better than to stop cameramen filming at every opportunity! It is also considerably quicker to shoot handheld, which is useful if part of the filming requires you crossing a busy road! This video only contains a fraction of the hyperlapses shot in London and the plan is to continue shooting more both in and outside the capital.
