Description

[This short video produced by IFAW shows the dramatic recovery of a sweet dog named Pelusa that was left to fend for herself on the streets of Playa del Carmen, Mexico after her owner committed suicide. She got very sick and thin, and lost almost all of her fur, but luckily IFAW and its local partner Coco’s Animal Welfare started a community outreach program in her neighborhood “Invasores”. When we first saw her, we immediately intervened to improve her health and nutrition. Almost 3 months had to pass to see her recovery, which was possible thanks to the treatment and food provided by IFAW/Coco’s, but also mainly due to the care of a loving woman from the same neighborhood called María Chan Dzul. Despite having her own dogs and challenges to sustain her family, she did not turn her back to an animal in need. Maria Chan’s wish is that Pelusa gets adopted by a loving family. She believes that this sweet dog that has overcome all this suffering greatly deserves it. www.ifaw.org]
