Rob Zins is author of "On the Edge of Apostasy," "Romanism: & others. The so-called "Evangelical Church" has become polluted in anti Biblical heresy, ignorance & emotionalism (for more on this see our video "SAD STATE OF THE CHURCH: 87% OF EVANGELICAL "CHRISTIANS" DON'T KNOW WHAT GOSPEL JUSTIFICATION IS" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=im4ozy_EiR4&list=PL2CDA855486B09128&index=15). John MacArthur's book "Strange Fire" describes the history & teachings of this group well ("What would God say about those who blatantly misrepresent His Holy Spirit; who exchange true worship for chaotic fits of mindless ecstasy; who replace the biblical gospel with vain illusions of health and wealth; who claim to prophesy in His name yet speak errors; and who sell false hope to desperate people for millions of dollars? The charismatic movement has always been a breeding-ground for scandal, greed, bad doctrine, and all kinds of spiritual chicanery. As a movement, it is clearly headed the wrong direction. And it is growing at an unprecedented rate. From the Word of Faith to the New Apostolic Reformation, the Charismatic movement is being consumed by the empty promises of the prosperity gospel. Too many charismatic celebrities promote a “Christianity” without Christ, a Holy Spirit without holiness. And their teaching is having a disastrous influence on a grand scale, as large television networks broadcast their heresies to every part of the world. In Strange Fire, bestselling author and pastor John MacArthur chronicles the unsavory history behind the modern Charismatic movement. He lays out a chilling case for rejecting its false prophets, speaking out against their errors, showing true reverence to the Holy Spirit, and above all clinging to the Bible as the inerrant, authoritative Word of God and the one true standard by which all truth claims must be tested." - http://www.amazon.com/Strange-Fire-Offending-Counterfeit-Worship/dp/1400205174/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1424536365&sr=1-1&keywords=strange+fire+john+macarthur). General traits of Charismatics & Pentecostals: 1. Spiritual elitism. This is the root of many delusions. Any kind of elitist belief is a certain indication of deception. Elitism is the belief that God has given a certain group special revelation/power/anointing that other Christian groups or previous generations have not entered into. They are on the spiritual cutting-edge, rising to spiritual levels not attained by other groups. It’s often dressed up as “Joel’s Army”, “Gideon’s Army”, and Elijah Companies of super anointed end-time warriors. Elitism is seen today in the ‘this-is-the-greatest-generation-ever’ kind of preaching we often hear. It can be found in the need to search out so-called ‘deeper’ truths and discover new, hidden mystical insights. 2. A tendency to marginalize the written Word. Watch out for any talk that plays down devotion to Scripture, such as “God is bigger than the Bible” or “God is doing a new thing, so put away your Bibles.” Marginalizing the written Word can take many forms: a) Ignoring the Word. Neglecting private Bible study in daily life is a strong symptom of deception. b) Disregarding the Word. A careless attitude towards obedience such as wild revival meetings in which people mockingly quote the verse, “Let all things be done decently and in order”, while they laugh over thei...
