Description

British Columbia has had a carbon tax, since 1st July 2008. It started at $10 and rose $5 a year to its current rate of $30 per tonne of carbon. Alberta, which has far greater greenhouse gas emissions than BC due to the oilsands, maintains that it has a "$15 price on carbon." However, don't believe the hype, says Dr Mark Jaccard, professor of environmental economics at the School of Resource and Environmental Management (REM) at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. Alberta's tax on carbon emissions is, in reality, miniscule. This was shot for documentary Running On Climate. More at www.runningonclimate.com
