[SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Three residential burglary suspects were taken into custody after leading police on a high-speed chase through freeways and surface streets Monday. The incident started with a home burglary in Hacienda Heights shortly after 6 p.m. Authorities chased the suspects in a red getaway car, which sped down the westbound 60 Freeway, authorities said. Police ended up chasing the suspects through residential streets and neighborhoods. At one point, the driver clipped a car and items were thrown out of the windows by passengers in the backseat. Authorities said a 15-year-old and 9-year-old boy were also in the car. The two boys were taken by officers and were not injured in the chase. Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies with the Industry Station are conducting an investigation and will be identifying the boys' parents. Deputies will determine if the pair should be released to their parents or taken into Child Protective Services. The pursuit ended near a home in South Los Angeles by Vermont Avenue and 65th Street as the three suspects fled from the car on foot. The men hopped over walls and climbed onto the roofs of homes to escape from police. One of the suspects jumped into a yard. The owner of the home, who wanted to be identified only as "Melissa," saw it all happen. She said five officers chase the man down and put him in handcuffs. She said ran into the backyard because her son and her nephew were out playing basketball and she became concerned. Two of the suspects were quickly taken into custody. The third suspect was later taken into custody, California Highway Patrol officials said.]
