Montreal first wave punks, The 222s, perform She Wants Revenge, at Osheaga Festival, 2011. http://www.the222s.com THE 222s Chris Barry, lead vocals Joe Cerrato, bass & back vocals Louie Louie Rondeau, drums & vocals Pier Major, guitars Robert Martins, guitars HISTORY The Montreal punk band the 222s, who took their name from a Canadian pain killer of the same name, were formed by Pier Major (lead guitar) and Jean (Frisson) Brisson (lead vocal) in the summer of 1977, joined a few months later by Angel Calvo (bass&drums), Louis (Louie Louie) Rondeau (drums, vocals, keyboard). Christian Belleau (bass) replaced Angel Calvo a year later. In the summer of 1978 Jean Frisson was replaced by Chris Barry who became the official singer, followed by Joe Cerrato (bass & back vocals) in 1980 who became the band`s official bass player. Also, manager François Doyon took over Marc De Mouy`s responsabilities and became their official manager. After the release of two moderately successful singles (I Love Suzan/First Studio Bomb) in 1979, produced by Doyon and Louie Louie and in 1981 (La Poupée/She`s a doll) released on Gamma records, the band decided to go separate ways. Over the course of their carrer, the 222s toured Canada as extensively, as any band could, and even in the USA where they toured with the Nuclear Accidents and ventured off to play at the famous Max`s Kansas City in New York City on several occasions. The 222s have kept a legendary status, and a series of TV appearances they did in the late 70s and early 80s have since resurfaced on Youtube and elsewhere and has sprarked a renewed interest in the band. BACK TOGETHER! In 2010 the official lineup: Chris, Joe, Louie and Pier, were thrilled to reform and performed several successful shows. The 222s are currently working on more projects and serious proposals are always welcome.
