Description

In the before time, in the long long ago. Before the Internet and the World Wide Web, there were things called Electronic Bulletin Boards and you had to dial in to check you mail using your painfully slow 300 baud modem. This is a simulation recreated in Ataritoons of what it was like to dial into one of the local BBSs using a program called 850 Express on an ATARI 800XL (or 130XE). If you were born after 1985, Watching this is mandatory. Before flash, before all that stuff. My friends an I used to make our own animations using an application called Ataritoons. These were made keystroke by keystroke using the ASCII and ATASCII characters sets and then the recorded keystrokes were played back removing the cursor. Some of these came to be known as "break movies" and they had their small following at the time on various BBS's (electronic bulletin boards) we could dial into with our modems. Huzzah for the 80's. You may want to turn the sound down, because the AtariToons could only produce one sound and it is that rather annoying "Beep"
