Description

Griff works in a gun shop selling assault rifles and automatic pistols in leafy Highgate. The shop is a supplier for Airsoft, a realistic war game with a growing following. Griff has been working there ever since he left the armed forces and settled down to a quieter life with his boyfriend. 1000 LONDONERS This film is part of 1000 Londoners, a five-year digital project which aims to create a digital portrait of a city through 1000 of the people who identify themselves with it. The profile contains a 3 minute film that gives an insight into the life of the Londoner, as well as their personal photos of London and some answers to crucial questions about their views on London life. Over the course of the project we aim to reveal as many facets of the capital as possible, seeing city life from 1000 points of view. www.1000londoners.com www.youtube.com/1000londoners www.facebook.com/1000londoners Twitter @1000_londoners 1000 Londoners is produced by South London based film production company and social enterprise, Chocolate Films. I recommend using two if you love using automatic. If you're just sticking to semi and your consumption's quite low, you should be fine with just one. Generally the right thing to say to them when they're just in is 'don't buy anything, give it a go first'. No point spunking six-hundred quid on a rifle if you don't even like it. So a good thing to do is cock it to the rear so you know it's empty, so you know you're not going to cock another round into the chamber. Then you take your magazine, slide it in until you hear that click. That way it's not going to fall out. You push the slide release here, which moves the slide forward which then loads the round into the chamber. And then I'll be able to cycle the weapon. So I joined the army back in 2006 when I was sixteen, did a years basic training there, then I moved on to the army school of aviation in Middle Wallop. Two tours of Afghanistan, nice jolly to Libya where the war was cancelled upon our arrival. After that, I didn't fancy myself in the maritime aviation role that our squadron was moving towards so I handed in my papers and about half a year later, I came here. When it comes to firearms in general, not just airsoft, I've got a huge admiration of the engineering that goes behind building these things. So another noticeable difference on this is that it uses a much bigger caliber than the others. Apart from 556 this one uses 762. How different guns are built for such different tasks is something I find quite interesting. So here we have a bunch of western and eastern European style rifles. We have everything from the AK-47 down to the finish variance of it. The RK-95 and before that came the AK-4C, a lot of people confuse that with the AK because in Swedish that just stands for automatic carbine. We can't just sell anyone, a realistic looking airsoft gun. If they want to buy one they have to do three games at the same site in no less than 2 months. One of the many sort of things it has as a challenge its public perception. I mean really it's a lot of strange grown men running round the woods with toy guns shooting at each other which is in itself a bit strange. Hello airsoft supplies, Chris speaking. We just met through friends at a party long ago, and we're still together now. It's been so long now, it's been about six years. Almost as long as my army career which I'm struggling to remember the start of. But yeah, we're going well, good few years, and who knows where the future will take us.
