Description

Hi I'm Gwendolyn Ramsey concierge at the Trump International Hotel and Tower and this week's concierge correspondent. I have your concierge preferred picks for the week of May 21st through May 27th. Located in the North Side neighborhood of Andersonville, this historic hub of the city's Swedish immigrant community has a three-story museum that describes Swedish immigration to Chicago, which reached its peak in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The first floor exhibits of sculpture, artwork and Crafts by Scandinavian artists change periodically, and on the second floor you'll find the museum's permanent collection of well-labeled historic items that portray the Swedish immigrant story including traditional clothing and household objects Swedes brought with them from their household. The Brunk Children's Museum of Immigration on the third floor features interaction displays and hands-on activities. Swedish American Museum 5211 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL www.swedishamericanmuseum.org/‎ Named for an heirloom variety of tomato, this restaurant celebrates vegetarian cooking as envisioned by chef/owner Shawn McClain, formally of the highly acclaimed Trio. With a focus on organic, local and regional ingredients, the primarily vegetarian menu lists a few poultry and seafood creations. With their upscale, hip environment and excellent wait staff you will want to return again and again. Green Zebra 1460 W. Chicago Ave., Chicago, IL www.greenzebrachicago.com For more information on these events check out conciergepreferred.com or pick up the magazine at any concierge desk in the city. Check out conciergepreferred.com every Wednesday for the week's concierge picks.
