Description

A lack of protection for the cashew nut industry in Guinea-Bisseau is forcing many farmers further into poverty. The tiny West African nation is the second largest producer of cashew nuts in Africa, behind Mozambique, and the fifth largest in the world. But the nut, so prized and expensive once on the supermarket shelves of the West, sells for rock-bottom prices in Guinea Bissau. Al Jazeera's Catherine Soi reports from Bissau, Guinea-Bissau.
