I stumbled across this story while putting together my final broadcast project... What I found turned out to be so much bigger than just a project. Laura Garcia de Getz came to America seeking better health care for her autistic son. She would find out a year later that she had a rare deadly disease called scleroderma that affects the connective tissue in the body. Now in desperate need of a double lung transplant, insurance companies refuse to cover her. Laura is out of options. With only 11 percent lung capacity, three boys (the youngest being autistic) and barely any health insurance coverage, the Getz family find themselves truly waiting on a miracle.
