The Intel Foundation has awarded the Young Scientist Award to eighteen year old Eesha Khare for her super-capacitor invention. The tiny energy device can charge quickly, store large amounts of energy, and hold the charge for long periods of time. A smartphone battery outfitted with Khare's super-capacitor technology would potentially be able to completely charge in less than twenty seconds. It would last for ten-thousand charge-recharge cycles.
