Change is Simple founders were headed to beautiful St. Croix to attend the wedding of a close friend and thought a visit to a school was important to learn about what students in the US Virgin Islands were doing to protect our planet. Patrick & Lauren coordinated an hour discussion period with the fifty 6th graders at the Charles H. Emmanuel School. St. Croix is a US territory with a population of about 53,000 people. The citizens of St. Croix were VERY excited to vote in the 2012 presidential election. On St. Croix was one of the worlds largest oil refinery's, and in January 2012 it was shut down which negatively affected the economy but positively effected the environment. The refinery employed about 2000 people on the island. St. Croix's economy relies heavily on tourism and rum distilleries.
